Following the success of last year we are thrilled to have extended sponsorship and support to the UCI sanctioned Tour of Cambridgeshire taking place near Peterborough on the 4th & 5th June 2016.
Comprising of a Chrono, or individual time trial, on the Saturday and a mass participation race on the Sunday, known as a Gran Fondo, the whole event takes places on fully closed roads. It is also the only UK qualifier for the 2016 UCI World Gran Fondo Series Championships final.
Different categories are available depending on competitor’s abilities, from a leisure event right through to elite amateur over the full 80.2 mile closed course.
The real beauty of a Gran Fondo is that although racers are graded throughout the grid, everyone starts together. This means a true sense of professional racing can be felt, regardless of fitness or overall ability. The fact that it is held on fully closed roads only adds to the atmosphere.
We are excited to be a part of this incredible event where, aside from event branding, we will be in attendance to offer our support. There will also be a stand track-side where the brand will be offering demonstrations of its range of road cycling specific endurance accessories as well as other products from their extensive choice.
“These routes are fantastic, but with the UK being a country of extremes, from super-wet to warm and dry, Sealskinz will be on hand to help out,” commented Matt Boyce, Marketing Manager at Sealskinz. “A lot of competitors will be familiar with our products, but this is a chance to put them into practice. We’re literally going to be asking them to ‘dip their toes in the water’ and we know they’ll come out dry. If the weather gods do decide to shine on us, our new summer range will keep competitors dry and comfortable from the inside out.’’
The ToC Gran Fondo coincides perfectly with the launch of our inaugural summer range. The collection contains a range of exciting new road cycling designs with the ultimate focus remaining the same as it has always been – keeping riders dry and comfortable. A number of these will be available to test and subsequently purchase before, during and after the Gran Fondo itself.
