We have joined forces with UK bike manufacturer Bird Cycleworks to create a formidable force in the UK Enduro MTB scene. We introduce to you, the Bird Sealskinz Factory Team.
The team will be made up of the brother and sister duo Joel and Traharn Chidley, both of whom have been supported separately by Bird and Sealskinz for some time, and a new member, up and coming Enduro racer Tom Parker.
Sealskinz and Bird are businesses that obsess over the finer details to deliver on performance. With shared values and a focus on product development, the collaboration was an easy and organic move for both brands, as Matt Boyce, Marketing Manager at Sealskinz explains,
‘‘The Enduro scene is growing faster than anyone could have imagined, which is why we’re proud to be at the heart of it with the Bird Sealskinz Factory Racing team. The guys at Bird are forging an enviable reputation for themselves and with 2 of our supported riders already on their books it was a natural progression to join forces and ensure that the guys get the additional support they need to enable them to keep improving and to keep delivering exceptional results.’’
Joel and Traharn have been making waves on both the UK and world Enduro scene, with Traharn a regular top 5 elite level finisher and Joel realising several elite UK podiums and a top 50 finish in an Enduro World Series stage. Tom, the team’s newest addition, has shown some huge potential on the junior race scene with regular podiums at national series events. All riders have a serious mountain bike and motocross background which they hope will set them in fair stead as they attack this year’s upcoming national and world race scene.
Joel had this to say, ‘‘Traharn and I have been working closely with both Bird and Sealskinz over the past two seasons. It has been relaxed, flexible, and brilliantly supportive in a no nonsense way that I love. 2016 sees the arrival of the Bird Sealskinz Factory Racing team, Sealskinz and Bird have joined forces to extend their support and we’re all climbing aboard. So, here’s to a fast, warm, dry and successful 2016 of racing bikes!’’
Traharn is super excited about the year ahead, ‘’Bird Cycleworks and Sealskinz have become part of my family over the past couple of years, they’re a group of great people that do an incredible job of producing awesome bikes and endurance wear. I'm psyched for the season ahead, and am looking forward to competing around Europe keeping the Sealskinz motto alive – ‘First Out, Last In'. I couldn’t ask for a better team.’’
New team member Tom Parker said, ‘’ I’m absolutely stoked to be riding for the Bird Sealskinz racing team. Seeing them smash the racing season last year just made me want to be a part of it even more and I’m extremely grateful to have the chance in 2016. I finished my last junior season very strongly and hope to carry that over to this year, riding the elite category will be a challenge but my main goal is to strike a top 10. Having such a strong team behind me using top equipment and accessories, that goal just got a whole load more achievable.’’
The Bird Sealskinz Factory Team will all be piloting Bird’s race ready Enduro bike, The Aeris, as well as being clad in Sealskinz products, including an array of accessories to suit the weather conditions. Bird will be providing pit support to its riders at the majority of events.
Bird Cycleworks are thrilled with the partnership, ‘’We are delighted with the tie up with Sealskinz for the forthcoming season. We enjoyed great success in our inaugural 2015 season, with Traharn and Joel both winning at national and local Enduro events. Both of them will be riding again for us next season and the team will be further strengthened by new members as well as new kit and accessories. We are all super exited for the forthcoming season and believe the new collaboration will ensure it’s even better with lots of podium finishes.’’
The Bird Sealskinz Factory Team will be competing at the British Enduro series, a selection of other UK races and a handful of international events too. Be sure to go and say hi if you see them at the races, they’ll be easy to spot as they will be astride some very cool looking bikes and they may be the only team on course who are dry and fully protected from the elements - they’ll likely be wearing a massive grin too!
